The COVID-19 pandemic illustrates the way in which certain global trends exert pressures on society while exacerbating its vulnerabilities, to which the philanthropic sector must respond. COVID-19 highlights the evolution of philanthropy’s practices to respond to these pressures. This current crisis has pushed philanthropic organizations to quickly adapt their practices, in order to face the crisis and to continue to offer services. After 14 months, some of these adaptations have been done away with, but others have become consolidated into perennial innovations. In this session, the Mallet Institute will use six major philanthropic trends to analyse our world in transformation. Later, participants will be invited to explain which actions their partners took over the last 14 months, and which can now be considered inspiring innovations that encouraged an evolution of their philanthropic practices.
